Students may visit the library with their classes or individually.
Students who visit individually during instructional periods are required to bring a pass from their classroom teacher to indicate permission and the student's purpose for visiting the library.
The GFHS library offers a quiet study atmopshere. The library is the one place in the school where students can be assured of having a quiet room in which to work, study, read, test, concentrate, and get research assistance. Those who come for other purposes are expected to maintain the quiet atmopshere for all students. Students who do not conduct themselves in library-appropriate manner will be asked to go back to class.
Students check out books through Mrs. Badovinac at the circulation desk. Students may check out two books at a time. Additional books for assignments and research are allowed on a case-by-case basis.
Library books may be borrowed for a period of two weeks, after which they are expected to be either returned or renewed for another two-week period. Reference books are not available for check-out but may be used inhouse or by copying the pages needed for research.
The library does not charge fines for overdue books; however, students will be held responsible for lost and damaged materials. Overdue notices are given to English teachers and reminders are emailed to student email addresses and/or by optional text messages.
The library provides access to computers, iPads, and a black and white printer.
A limited assortment of school supplies is available.
Additional Library Media Center policies can be found on page 45 of the GFPS student handbook.
